배규무 작가는 생동하는 것들에 집중한다. '생존'이라는 공통의 욕구를 지닌 존재들을 그 환경과 함께 관찰한다.
생존 욕구로 인해 발생하는 각자의 기작과 다양한 삶이 교차되는 지점에 흥미를 가지고, 이들의 삶을 서로 밀접하게 인식한다. 작가는 모든 생명이 서로의 생존에 영향을 주고받는 있으며, 이들이 가진 상호관계가 필수불가결하다고 생각한다. 모든 생명은 독립된 존재이기보다 서로 외부에 장기로로서 존재, 배치되는 하나의 연결된 덩어리로 인지하고 있다. 이러한 덩어리를 일종의 '키메라'*로 이해하며, 생존의 동료로서 다른 존재들을 작품으로 끌고 온다. 이들은 필요에 따라 관계의 형상을 달리하거나 관계 맺는 대상을 달리 하는 등, 고정되고 규정되기보다는 끝없는 변화를 통해 생존해 간다. 한 개체의 생존이 공동체의 몫이자 산물이라는 것, 그리고 개체가 고정된 존재가 아닌 주변의 것들을 수용하고 변화하며 존재해가는 것을 이해하고자 한다.
최근 작가는 식물과 그와 연결된 생물에 빗대어 개인의 생존과 개체 간의 연결성을 드러내고 있다.

Artist Vagyoomoo focuses on living things, observing beings with a common desire for "survival" along with their environment. He is intrigued by the intersection of individual mechanisms and various lives that arise from the instinct for survival, recognizing their lives as intimately interconnected.
She believes that all lives influence and impact each others' survival, considering the interrelationships they possess as essential. Rather than perceiving all lives as independent entities, the artist views them as interconnected entities that exist and are arranged as organs within each other, akin to a kind of
"chimera." Other beings are introduced into her work as companions in survival. These entities adapt and survive through endless change, altering forms of relationships or changing the objects of their relationships as needed, rather than being fixed and regulated. The artist aims to understand that an individual's survival is a part and product of the community, and that it involves accepting and evolving through the surroundings, rather than being a fixed entity. Recently, she has been using plants and interconnected organisms to reveal the connectivity between individual survival and interconnectivity among beings.
